Introduction

The MICAGO Initiative offers the various communities of the chemically injured - and the environmentally concerned - a rare opportunity to create among ourselves - and for ourselves - an additional "currency of power". Based around the acknowledgement of a few basic human rights and responsibilities the MICAGO Declaration offers us a much needed chance to have some real and persisting unity in our often mutually hostile diversity.

The Declaration reminds us, in an empowering way, of some absolutely fundamental things of very great importance. And it simultaneously challenges us to curtail our past and present differences, grievances - perhaps even our outright hostilities - for a much greater good; our shared "Cause".
